Kenneth Avenue/Vernon Way Storm Drain Improvement Project

​Background​​

The proposed project area is located on Kenneth Avenue and Vernon Way and consists of 42 acres of low-density residential development.  The project area is bounded by Vernon Way to the north, California Avenue to the west, Tarshes Drive to the south, and Ancil Hoffman Park to the east. 

 

Project Description

The project will address flooding and drainage facility maintenance issues in the area.  Improvements will include installing new storm drain facilities on Kenneth Avenue and replacing existing storm drain facilities that have reached the end of their service life on the Vernon Way.  See the project map on the back of newsletter 1 below for a detailed exhibit.

Project Updates

The storm drain improvement project was approved by the Board of Supervisors and advertised to construction contractors on March 21, 2017.  The public bid opening was on May 4, 2017.  There were 5 bids submitted. On May 25, 2017 the contract was awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder - C.E. Cox General Engineering.
